Women's Ministry

Currently, WMU is encouraging everyone who is planning to fix a shoebox for Operation Christmas Child to take advantage of the back to school sales so you can purchase supplies for less!  WMU will be collecting boxes again this year and also gathering shoes for Shoes for Orphan Souls, so they'll be needing new shoes for children!

Shoe boxes and suggestion lists are available in the Church Library.  This year's goal is to collect 125 boxes for children!

We would like to extend an invitation to all ladies between the ages of 18 and 180 to become a part of our ministry!

Our goal is to form deeper relationships with each other and sister churches by having activities.  Our ladies participate in various activities throughout the year including Ladies breakfasts', Bible studies, fellowship, and mission projects.

Another outreach of the Women's Ministry at MABC is the Woman's Missionary Union (or WMU), which is an auxiliary of the Southern Baptist Convention first started in 1888.  WMU is the largest Protestant missions organization for women in the world!

WMU encompasses a whole range of activities and experiences that reflect the unique character of each local church.  The fact is, no two WMUs are alike! (Nor should they be!)  The WMU in your local church is organized around specific needs and is based on the ages and interests of your individual members.

At Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, WMU is involved with:
  • Praying for and giving to missions.
  • Doing missions.
  • Learning about missions.
  • Developing spiritually toward a missions lifestyle.
There's a wide variety of ways to become involved with WMU, including opportunities for individuals, small groups, and the entire church!
