Men's Ministry

The men of Michigan Avenue Baptist Church meet every 4th Wednesday at 7 p.m. to develop and grow in their faith in Jesus Christ.

We meet to encourage each other through fellowship, to grow in prayer and Bible study - daily following the avenue to Christ-likeness. Each man is challenged to examine their relationship with God, their spouse, and their children, and is encouraged to let the Holy Spirit guide those relationships to what they should be. Through this daily strengthening, men will be equipped with the courage and knowledge to not only incorporate the teachings of Jesus Christ in their daily lives, but also through faith and become Christian leaders in their home, church, and community.

At Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, men learn to:

Value themselves the way God does.
Replace self-dependence with dependence on God.
Identify and value those whom God has placed in their lives.
Avoid self-righteousness and becoming judgemental.
Avoid self-glorification for the blessings God has provided.
Commit to minister within their sphere of influence, such as work, church, or within the community.
Be on the watch for areas of pride, which arises in their lives that may lead to rebellion against the forgiven.
Release the feelings of guilt and condemnation for past sins that have been confessed and forgiven.
Learn to be submissive to a trustworthy God.
Identify and denounce areas of superficial Christian living within their lives.
Promote local and cooperative Souther Baptist Convention missionary efforts.
