At Michigan Avenue Baptist Church, we believe...

Worship is important because the act of worship ascribes worth to God.

Evangelism is important because souls won to Christ bring glory to God.

Prayer is important because it is conversation with our Heavenly Father.

Teaching the Bible is important because of God's authority.

Giving of ourselves - spiritually, physically, and financially - is important because it it reflects our love for Christ.

Encouraging people is important because it is foundational in ministry.

Obedience to God is important because it supports commitment.

So how can Michigan Avenue Baptist Church fulfill the Great Commission of Matthew 28:18-20?

'And Jesus came and spoke to them, saying, "All authority has been given to me on Heaven and on earth. Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all things that I have commanded you; and, lo, I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Amen.'

The Pulpit Ministry - The preaching of God's Word is critical. This is the way in which God has chosen to accomplish His work. "By the foolishness of preaching." - I Corinthians 1:21

Evangelism - The greatest work of the church is to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ to the world around us. Statistics have proven that more people come to know Christ as Savior through the outreach efforts of Sunday School classes more than any other program.

Family Worship - God's plan is for families to attend church together. The way to fulfill this plan is to have worship and classes that speak to every age.

Spiritual Growth - Discipleship is another important part of the work of the church. All ministries should be focused on the teaching of God's Word.
